Cleanse your Space

Is it weird that I love the smell of burning sage?

Is it weird that I love the smell of burning sage?

There are SO many ways we can cleanse our space!

The first thing that may come to mind, might be white sage, palo santo, or heck… legitimately cleaning your house!

Don’t go grabbing anything just yet, before we get to cleansing, let’s talk about Sage & Palo Santo. They are amazing. They are the OG’s of space cleansing… but they aren’t the only option. To be honest, we can totally overdo it with our sage and palo santo… it’s even becoming a problem for harvesting when it comes to sage. That’s not to say that you absolutely can’t use them! If you already have yourself some Sage and Palo Santo, then carry on darling! If you don’t, no worries…let’s talk about other ways that YOU can cleanse your space.

Essential Oils

It's no secret that Essential Oils have an effect on your mood, disposition, and emotions. Essential oils are able to quickly absorb into the body, and its bloodstream, to support the body on a cellular level. You are created to function as a whole.

The spirit, mind, and body are inseparably connected, communicating at a cellular level. Your body is made of intelligent cells, wired to restore health. In addition to that, emotions are information-carrying molecules that bind to and react with cell receptors. They go into the cell, impacting function and behavior. For this reason, I'm so grateful to be able to utilize them while I'm meditating and saying my affirmations. You can also incorporate essential oils into your actual cleaning routine, and of course diffuse them in different areas of your home.

Here are just a handful of essential oils that you can use to cleanse your space, both physically and energetically.

  • Lemon Essential Oil: Very supportive to releasing toxic and negative emotions, by assisting the body in entering in a cleansing state. Lemon helps to purify the body.

  • Melaleuca Essential Oil: Is also very helpful in releasing and clearing out negative energetic baggage. This oil can help you set healthy energetic boundaries, and honor your personal space.

  • Cedarwood Essential Oil: Powerful on the mind and heart. Wonderful to use when you are looking to reconnect with yourself, and discover your inner peace.

  • Lavender Essential Oil: Can help you feel more protected, capable, set healthy boundaries, independence, and reinforce your inner strength. It also helps you to cut off unhealthy relationships you may be hanging on to.

Crystals

Most of the time we think about how we can cleanse our crystals, but sometimes we forget that our Crystals can help with the cleansing! Add these crystals to your living space, take them with you when you travel, or add them to a cleaning spray with your oils while you are cleaning your home!

  • Selenite: Selenite is a self cleansing crystal, and is amazing for cleansing other crystals, spaces, and (surprise!) even you! This is a wonderful crystal to wear or carry with you. Do not add this beauty to a cleaning spray, as the water will denigrate the crystal.

  • Clear Quartz: Clear Quartz is arguably one of the most well known crystals, and one of the most powerful. Connected to both the Third Eye and Crown Chakras, it uplifts your energy, reminding you of your true divine essence. Quartz helps you let go of that stagnant energy, and is a perfect addition to any oil roller blend, room spray, or cleaning spray.

  • Black Tourmaline: Speaking of stagnant energy, look no further than the superstar that is Black Tourmaline! Black Tourmaline transmutes, and cleanses negative energy, and is a must have! Not only is it incredibly grounding, it can help protect you from the crazy EMF’s that are produced by your electronics!

Basics

The basics might seem boring, but they aren’t any less powerful or effective than the other methods of cleansing. Sometimes stripping things down to the basics instead of having an elaborate ritual, can feel even more empowering.

  • Salt: One of the simplest and oldest traditions is to make a circle of salt around the perimeter of your home, and/or sprinkle it on the floor. If you sprinkle on the floor, you sweep the house and all the salt to one door and sweep the salt (and negativity) right out the door!

  • Herbs: Another great option is to create a sweeping blend of herbs to cleanse your space of negativity. Exactly the same steps as with the Salt, but you choose your own magical herbs.

  • Windows: You can always go super basic and open up all the windows in your home for an hour or more, to let in fresh air and fresh energy.

At the end of the day, I'd encourage you to shoot for the moon and try everything. See what really resonates with you, and move forward with that. You are doing yourself a huge favor by letting go of negativity. You deserve to live a life full of joy and positive vibes... and that starts today! Cleanse away!
